A Healthy Balance

Our top tips!

Here are some guidelines on how to balance your diet! OK, so the first few Tips:

  • Eat 5 a day

  • Base meals on starchy foods like potatoes, wholegrain breads, rice or pasta (you know by now how important carbs are;))

  • Have some dairy or dairy alternatives (such as soya drinks)

  • Eat some beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other sources of protein.

  • Choose unsaturated oils and spreads, eaten in small amounts, and add polyunsaturated fats (omega 3) in healthy amounts!

  • Choose foods high in fibre to help digestion, and improve satiety which may help cravings for snacks!

  • Drink plenty of fluids (which means WATER, not fizzy drinks or too much alcohol!!!

Remember that changing everything in once isn't going to work for you! Try to work on one or two small changes at once, not all! And here are some more of our tips to achieve your healthy balance

  • Steam, bake, grill or eat raw!#

  • Make it colourful! Add different types of veggies to your food.

  • Swap one meal from time to time for a ‘naughty’ one where you can eat anything you want. But one important rule: PLAN IT and make it one meal not whole day ;)

  • EXERCISE… that’s your strong point so keep your hard work up!

  • Sleep and Recovery. Don’t forget that recovery is as much important as activity! Aim to get around 7-8 hours of rest per night. If you are stressed and tired your body’s cortisol level will increase therefore causing you to hold more fat in your lower belly. So chill, relax and rest!
