Thank you very much for your kind words, support & help!
Short Story of the J-Active Raffle Tickets from Jordan
On the 12th of October 2020, we started our campaign to raise money & awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity.
The reason we chose this charity is that in May this year (2020) during the midst of lockdown we received the very unfortunate news that my dad Steven had been diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour. I remember speaking to dad in the build up to this and him describing his headaches as something that could only resemble a brain tumour. It wasn't until several doctors visits later and the minor seizures fortunately witnessed by my sister that he was taken to hospital for an MRI. He was later sent home to await treatment which could have been anywhere from 2-4 weeks times. Having been there and witnessed dad go from a fit and able working man, to physically disabled as his brain tumour continued to aggressively take over the left side of his brain, we could only hope & pray that the treatment could be brought forward.
Due to the lack of surgeries & surgeons available, it was a long waiting game. Dad did have treatment & part of the tumour removed but remains disabled & not the same man he was before. Having witnessed this, myself and J (Little J) decided to plan something that would raise awareness and hopefully raise some funds which could go towards diagnosing these cancers faster & getting the right treatment sooner to try & prevent such trauma for other people & their families.
So, we did just that. We created a just giving page and contacted few companies and small businesses local to us in Devon & my dad in the midlands with the hope that we may get some donations and our idea of Raffle Tickets would make this happen.
Responses were amazing and donations were incredible! So much more than we hoped for! We had around £1000 worth donations from our sponsors and prizes included full body massages, meat hampers, seafood hampers, monthly online fitness memberships & much more...
We would like to THANK each & every person & business that donated raffle prizes to our cause which helped raise the amount we did. Without such great prizes, we may have not raised the amount we did! Thank you so much to:
Planet Warrior, Niesupelnie, Dens Barbers, Positive Instinct, Salcombe Gin , Favis of Salcombe, Bohoholistics, Root's & Thyme, Eolas+ , Sophia's Massage & Beauty, Lottie's Cup Cakes, Beauty by Gemma, Melissa Searle, LuPhotography, Joseph Morris Butchers Ltd, The Fortescue in Salcombe
We would also like to thank each & every individual for their incredible, supportive donations & kind words. Not only did we have over 90 people donating, but we also raised over £2400!
On 31st of October 2020 we drove up to the midlands to issue dad a Card which has been signed Online by our amazing J-Active Community, Friends and Family and draw the raffle prizes during live stream on our J-Active FB page with dad(watch here). He, as well as us were completely overwhelmed by the support & kindness received from everyone.
We set out to raise awareness, motivate dad to keep fighting on & finally raise some money. With the help of everyone involved we certainly achieved our goal.
Finally, I would like to give a special thank you to my fiancé (little J) for her tireless efforts in organising & liaising with all local business involved, The Brain Tumour Charity itself, creating the social media posts which shared our fundraiser & for the personal support she has shown to me during these times.
You all are heroes! Thank you!
